External unbalanced moments are classified in to two.
1.First order moment - Acting in horizontal and vertical direction
2.Second order moment - Acting in only vertical direction.
The second order moment acts with frequency corresponding to twice engine speed. In order to control vibration resulting of this second order moment compensators are fitted.
A compensator is mounted on the aft end of the engine driven by main chain drive.
