Calculate the  emf generated by a 4 pole, wave wound armature having 40 slots with 18 conductors per slots when driven at 1000 rpm. The flux per pole is 0.015 wb.


Given

No of poles, P = 4

No of slots = 40

Conductors per slot = 18

Speed, N = 1000

Flux per pole, ø = 0.015


To find

Emf generated, E


Solution


We know that, emf generated,
E=PϕNZ60A

For wave winding A =2


Total No of conductor ,Z = No of slots x conductors per slot

                                         = 40 x 18

                                         = 720



E = (4 x 0.015 x 1000 x 720) / (60 x 2)

     =  360 V
